Felt Book Covers

Felt Book Covers

What you'll need...

They are super easy, especially when you use thick felt which doesn't fray and allows for top stitching.  As soon as I made the first one of these I was dying to cover the rest of my books.  But I haven't had time to sleep this week, so recovering books will have to wait for another day...

What you'll need:
1/2 yard thick felt
2-3 sheets of contrasting felt
sewing machine
contrasting thread

Directions & Notes

Step 1: Wrap book with fabric to cover the front and back covers.  Trim to allow 1 inch on all sides*

Step 2: Cut two pieces to sit inside the cover of the book.  They should each be 1/3 the size of the outside cover.

Step 3: Pin together pieces of the cover laying the inside flaps on top of the cover lining up the corners.

Step 4: Top stitch the pieces together.  Trim edges and place book in the cover.

*If you want to "decorate" your book cover, cut out shapes, letters, etc from the contrasting felt and stitch them to the cover in step 1.
